Be advised that if you are going to be drag racing the car at an NHRA drag strip, set screws are only allowed at the bottom u-joint where it connects to the pinion shaft. A set screw and lock nut there will pass inspection. On all other joints from there to the steering column, the parts must either be welded together or fitted with a through-bolt and lock nut. If there's any doubt in your mind as to whether or not a used part is still good enough to use, or if you don't have experience checking used parts for wear or defects -- then by all means, buy new parts.
