[edit] Header wrap
Header wrap is material used to wrap around headers to reduce radiant heat.
[edit] Header wrap pros
Claims made by header wrap manufacturers (subject to bias: need to be verified or debunked):
- Helps retain heat in the exhaust system, which maintains hotter exhaust gases, decreases density, and allows exhaust gas to exit faster.
- Promotes greater exhaust scavenging and lowered intake temperature, which leads to increased horsepower.
[edit] Header wrap cons
- May void warranties of header manufacturers.
- Holds in so much heat that the header metal fatigues and cracks.
