TSA drops plan to allow small knives on planes

WASHINGTON (AP) The Obama administration said Wednesday it was abandoning a plan that would have let passengers carry small knives, souvenir bats, air max, golf clubs and other sports equipment onto planes.

The decision by the head of the Transportation Security Administration, cabas vanessa bruno, John Pistole, nike air max sale, came after fierce opposition by members of Congress, airlines, labor unions and some law enforcement groups. They said that people intent on causing harm could use the knives and other items to injure or kill passengers and crew.

Knives and sports equipment will remain on the list of prohibited items, and shelving the proposal will allow the agency to focus on other priorities, nike air jordan pas cher, including expanding the Pre Check program to identify earlier those travelers who don't present a security risk, Pistole said in an Associated Press interview.

Pistole had presented the proposal to loosen the rules for carry ons in March, saying the knives and other items couldn't enable terrorists to cause a plane to crash. He said intercepting the items took time better used searching for explosives and other more serious threats.

Agency screeners each day confiscate more than 2,Louboutin pas cher femme,000 of the small folding knives passengers.

Last month 145 House members signed a letter asking Pistole to retain the policy barring passengers from including the knives and other items from in their carry on bags.

Flight attendant unions organized protests in Washington and at airports across the country. carriers, and executives from some of the nation's largest airlines came out against the proposal.

"After getting the input from all these different constituents, jordan femme, I realized there was not across the board support that would serve us well in moving forward," Pistole said.

By withdrawing the proposal, he said agency can focus on programs to identify the greatest security threats.

Last month I flew. A TSA agent gave me the third degree about my Dream Theater concert shirt. "Dream Theater, air max 90s,,,air maxes, where is that?"

"It's a band"

"Really? If I searched them on YouTube would I find videos?"

" Yes, lots of them."

"Are you SURE,chaussures louboutin?"

" Yes, I'm quite sure."

"Name on of their songs."

" Maybe you'be heard Pull Me Under, air max one. It had some radio play back in the 90's"

"Are you sure it's a band?"

" Yes,louboutin pas cher, can I catch my flight now?"

" After we take another look at your bag."

"Alright, nobody move or I'll make you look at my shirt!"

Hmmm, wasn't it small knives that were the weapons of choice during 911? Ya, ya I think it was! Frankly, the TSA and DHS are just a bunch of slow witted dolts. The TSA has done NOTHING to improve airline safety, they've never apprehended a terrorist, nike tn pas cher, and the FAA and airlines themselves already made the necessary changes to prevent another in flight terror attack which included retraining flight crews to immobilize a potential threat, Federal Marshalls on flights, and hardened cockpit doors. That was all that needed to be done. Everything the TSA has done is just theater. I even put it in the little basket and send it through the x ray. The poor TSA clerks have never recognized it for a razor blade though. I take it on my flights to cut thread while I'm doing embroidery in my seat. My favorite flight a couple of years ago was one where a nice lady who sat in the seat next to me. I started talking to her about her funny shaped carry on bag which she was holding in her lap. Turned out, it was a case full of competition boomerangs! I'm sure they were totally harmless in the hands of someone who was trained very well to use them! Bwahahaha! NO. I was really really shocked that they allowed them in the cabin. But it just goes to show how brilliant the TSA and their minions really are not very. After 911 the protocol was changed. now if anyone acts out or suggests a hijacking the protocol and training of the crew is to immobilize and disable the threat. The FAA and airlines made that change, that had nothing to do with the TSA. A guy with a little knife or boxcutter isn't much of a threat when the flight crew is willing to jump them and pin them down until the plane lands, often with the help of 150 passengers. Not too mention that if the hijackers manage to breach the new cockpit doors (it hasn't happened yet) there's a chance the pilot could pop a cap in their butt. That was not the case prior to 911 either. The changes the FAA and Airlines have made have improved airline safety and we've seen those measures work. The TSA theater in the airport is just theater.相关的主题文章:
