Former Penn State coach will prove innocence<br><br>Jerry Sandusky, the former Penn State football coach who founded an organization that helps at risk children in Pennsylvania, "steadfastly" maintains his innocence regarding allegations that he had inappropriate contact with juveniles, his lawyer said Thursday.<br><br>Sandusky, who has made several Lehigh Valley appearances on behalf of the nonprofit outreach group The Second Mile, also was "deeply disappointed" with stories in Harrisburg and State College newspapers Thursday concerning a state grand jury investigation into a 2009 allegation that Sandusky had indecently assaulted a minor. No charges have been filed.<br><br>"Jerry is deeply disappointed in the papers' decision to publish this information prior to any determination by the attorney general's office that he did anything inappropriate at all," Sandusky's State College attorney, Joseph Amendola, said in a statement. "While Jerry has been aware of an ongoing investigation by the attorney general's office for many months dating back to 2009, he has steadfastly maintained his innocence throughout this ordeal."<br><br>Citing five anonymous sources, the Harrisburg Patriot News reported Thursday that a grand jury has heard testimony for at least 18 months regarding the charge,nike tn, allegedly made while Sandusky was a volunteer assistant football coach at Central Mountain High School. The story also appeared in the Centre Daily Times of State College. The allegation reached the office of Attorney General Tom Corbett, now governor of Pennsylvania, in March 2009, the report said.<br><br>Amendola acknowledged an investigation by the attorney general's office as well as a 1998 Penn State Police investigation into a claim that Sandusky, then Penn State's defensive coordinator, showered with a 12 year old boy at the team's on campus football facility.
