Is your hair looking not-so-lustrous? In case your hair is flat and lifeless, you could bring it to life with any of the many volumizing products on the market today. But maybe you've already tried a number of those products with unsatisfying results. Think that your dull hair has no hope? You better think again! You simply need to use a handful of simple tricks to give your hair a little bounce and body. In reality, it's an error in judgment to use volumizing hair care products to try and give life to your dull hair. A few of them could be effective, but most of them work using the same principle. They coat hair, rendering it stiffer so it won't lay as flat. Hypothetically, the principle is good, but practically, it does not work. Sure, hair gets firmer and thicker when it is coated. However, hair also gets heavier as the coating adds more weight to the hair, weighing down the hair. The strength of coating isn't enough to support the additional weight. What happens is that hair will get even flatter. In case you still wish to use volumizing products, avoid those which have polymers, wax, or silicone in them. You can also find those hair styling products that aren't volumizing but still weigh down your hair anyways. For instance, sprays, gels, or mousse made to hold hair in place are heavy, and not flexible. If you comb out your hair, the rigid coating breaks down, leaving the weight with virtually no extra "lift" to keep it in position. In the same way, those products that make hair glossy also add weight. When you choose styling products, consider mildest or lightest weight options which will suit your purposes. Add more volume to your lifeless by blow drying it. This is one of the best ways to accomplish this. But then again, heat might cause damage to your hair. Any time you dry your locks, use a towel to remove most of the moisture, requiring less drying time. For your hair dryer, it's best if you go for a diffused or low heat one. You shouldn't point the blow dryer's air stream from the front when you are drying your locks. Try to separate the strands while they're drying. As you blow dry hair, you can separate the strands of hair with your fingers or a broad tooth brush. Keep doing this until you have got your hair entirely dry. In truth, there's no need for a blow dryer. Your hair could get dry too by repeated gentle combing and tossing as it dries. In this way, your locks won't merely dangle string-straight as they dry. With a hair dryer, however, water vapor is created by the heat. If you stop blow drying your hair when your hair is still pretty wet, your hair will end up lifeless. When all else does not work, your fool-proof solution is a perm. You need to take extra care, though, given that chemicals may cause damage to hair. With a perm, you'll not have to worry about your hair being lifeless. It's because your hair would have body even after you've washed, combed, and dried the curls.
