Editing How to change a tire with a bumper jack

This is a Emergency "on the side of the road" repair.

Remove spare tire from storage area.

Break lugs loose.

Jack up vehicle.

When wheel is high enough off the ground to get the replacement on .

Remove lug nuts.

Remove flat tire.

Replace with spare tire.

Hand-tighten lug nuts in place ,making sure the lugs are snug & the rim is snug against the hub.

Lower jack enough to tighten lug nuts, using the correct torque sequence.

Completely lower jack.

Tighten lug nuts up all the way.

Check twice.

Anytime you are mounting or dismounting a tire it can be extremely dangerous if you are not experienced  with proper tire Mount /Dismounting procedures, then this is not for you. 

We will use the Spare tire to run through this example.

A Tire is the rubber part.

A Wheel is the metal part.

It is best to use the front of the car {where the motor is}.

To change a tire with a bumper jack the car needs to be supported on all four points .
It is good to use a jack stand. If one is not available leave the flat on the car.

Make sure there is no air in the Wheel Assembly.

Place the foot of the jack as close to the bead as possible. 
put the jack in the up position Slowly jack up using the weight of the car to push the bead down.
Sometimes it will require multiple attempts to "bust the bead".

You might have to stand on the opposite side of where you are jacking to keep the wheel assembly from kicking up on you.
Be careful when the bead breaks things will move fast & it is possible to get hurt.

When one side is broken down, then do the other side.

Then, using two or more tire irons or big screwdrivers, work the bead off the rim.

Push the tire in with one foot & as close to the rim as possible while working the opposite side with the tools.

MOUNTING TIRE.

Some soap is good to assist but not mandatory.

Using the same techniques as above most of the time a tire can be slipped back over the rim without tools. The bigger the tire, the easier it is.

When putting air in tire make sure your hands are clear of the bead.

You will not get your finger back if it is caught in between the bead during the setting.

Never exceed Max tire inflation when setting the bead.

when mounting the tire back on the rim.if you have to use a tire tool be careful not to damage the bead of the tire.this could cause the tire not to seal properly.
