Earlier engines produced from 1960 to 1975 have a shorter impeller on the water pump. As a result, these earlier engines, if fitted with a later model pump, may have the impeller contacting the outside of the number one cylinder wall, which obviously is not ideal. Thankfully, there is a company by the name of Flow Kooler that makes high performance water pumps for a variety of ford inline six motors including the 200.
