Let me start by saying that I have an experience of what hot rod shop not to use.

I have an old truck on the works at this particular shop and this is what i Didn't do.

Ask for references or phone numbers of other customers and call them to see what their experience was with the shop.

Look at the actual vehicles built by the shop.

Write a contract.

Fix a price for the job and pay accordingly. (don't pay a lot of money upfront)

Don't let the money go ahead of the job.

Set a Schedule and penalties if the job is not completed in a reasonable amount of time.

Establish penalties if the money is no paid on time too.

Visit different shops and explain what you expect and want.

Listen to what they have to say.

Have a plan or what you want on your vehicle and stick to it.

Make sure you have enough money to see the project trough.
