==Suffix code== [[File:EngineCodepartialVIN.jpg|right]] The suffix code is located on a machined boss located on the front passenger side of the block where the head and block meet. {{Note1}}Many data bases do not include all the truck suffix codes, so it's not at all uncommon for one to not show up. Just be sure the suffix is actually what you think it is, they can be hard to read sometimes. If the block has been resurfaced (decked), the codes might have been removed and in that case the date and casting numbers will need to be used to ID the parts, along with any other visual cues that may be available. *[http://chevymania.com/partsid/suffix.cfm?block=Small SBC suffix codes] from chevymania.com *[http://www.chevymania.com/partsid/suffix.cfm?block=Big BBC suffix codes] from chevymania.com *[http://www.nastyz28.com/chevy-engine-code-stampings.php Suffix and VIN codes] from nastyz28.com ===Partial VIN=== There may be a partial VIN number in one string of letters and numbers and the suffix code will be at the end of a second string of letters and numbers.
