Electronic editions of 4 of Moodys books went on purchase Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015, launched by the digital publisher Open Road Integrated Media. (Open Road Built-in Media via AP)NEW YORK (AP) - Rick Moody is finally letting "The Ice Storm" and some of his other previous functions come out as e-books.
Electronic editions of four of Moody's textbooks went on sale Tuesday, released simply by digital publisher Open Road Incorporated Media. Besides "The Ice Tornado, " the other books include the book "Purple America, " the memoir "The Black Veil" and the brief fiction collection "The Ring of Brightest Angels Around Heaven. inch In a recent email, Moody told The Associated Press he had already been reluctant to grant electronic legal rights because most publishers treated the e-editions as "an ancillary portion of the lives of my books. "
"I was never comfortable, in the past, along with how people were talking about the ebooks of my backlist, and thus the delay, " Moody wrote.
Open Road was co-founded in 2009 simply by former HarperCollins CEO Jane Friedman and now has some 10, 000 digital books in its catalog, from Alice Walker's "The Color Purple" in order to Pat Conroy's "The Prince of Tides. "
Moody declined to discuss economic details, although Open Road is famous for offering 50 percent royalties upon e-book sales, double what traditional publishers usually offer.
"Their strategy is very much about writers plus writing, and they are unencumbered by conventional thinking about how to connect readers along with literature, " Moody told the AP. "Best of all, their listing is remarkable. It would be hard to think about another publisher that has been as aggressive and forward-thinking about literature within the digital age, and with such great taste. "
Moody, 54, is best known for "The Ice Storm, " the 1994 novel about a pair of troubled suburban families in 1970s Connecticut that became a feature film starring Kevin Kline and Sigourney Weaver. The book is part of Open Road's "Iconics" series, which includes "The Color Purple, " Erica Jong's "Fear of Flying" and dozens of other notable works.
Tuesday was also the discharge date for Moody's new novel, "Hotels of North America, " released by Little, Brown and Co.
___
Online:
website
More from Associated Press:

GOP candidates in high-stakes chess match up in South Carolina

Israeli mayor 'happy for help' from Hezbollah dangers

Obama chides senators to 'do their job, ' vote upon court pick

Judge: Apple should help US hack San Bernardino killer's phone

Iran snubs Doha proposal, won't freeze on oil output level
