==Running speedometer wiring harness and installing hardware==

Run your wiring harness from the speedometer head to the sending unit at the transmission, along the same route as the console or radio speaker wire harness. Use a grommet when going through sheet metal. Always ground the harness to the sheet metal floor and dash bezel to avoid erratic behavior of the speedometer. Run lighting off of existing gauge lights or splice into the headlight switch rheostat for brightness control of the gauge lights. When installing the sending unit at the transmission, use a light coating of anti-seize on housing threads to seal out moisture and avoid over-tightening. Some sending units will include a mechanical cable connection for cable operated cruise control units. Weather-pack connectors should have a slight coating of silicone grease to keep out moisture and keep electrical connections bright and corrosion free.
