Line 1: Line 1:
There are two basic types of garage doors, residential and commercial.  Residential doors usually come in 4 sections and when the door is open, they are horizontal.  There are also residential doors that tilt up.  Tilt up doors  are less commonplace than sectional doors.

A Tilt up door is all one piece and identical to the title implies tilts up along tracks when the door is opened.  A tilt up garage door is also parallel to the ground when it is open, but requires a little bit extra room in which to operate, because the door moves up and out, away from the garage when it's in motion.

Doors used in warehouses and at the back of retail stores are usually roll up doors.  They've many sections that roll around a single bar when they're open.  Usually these doors are adjacent to loading docks and unlike garage doors there is no horizontal portion of track.
