Hi all,

Hi all,
Not sure if decking a block should venture into CD and squish right away. Decking a block is firstly a machining operation in order to square the decks to the main bore and get even distances from the center at all corners of cylinder decks. At the same time we have to restore a proper sealing surface for the gaskets we will employ.

Yes it can be used to reduce the piston to head clearance. In my project this would mean a 0.1" machining of the deck to get the required squish. Instead I'll go with minimal decking 0.005" - 0.009" to get it squared and have custom made pistons do the squish.

I would suggest to modify this article to reflect what decking is, what we can achieve with decking and what the limits are.

A links was no longer available to the dynoed combos on SBC. I have replaced it with a link to the Superchevy Project Danger Mouse where they tested a lot of stuff. --[[User:Error 401|engine builder in the make]] 08:18, 16 September 2017 (MDT)
