This is a Factual issue that I am just now finishing with the New TransGo Shift Kit install. The Original problem is from a 1982 C20 Chevy with a 350ci and a TH400 trans that would Not Shift into Second untill 40mph, and Third untill 60mph! So, figured I would install the basic TransGo Kit. First, When removing the Valve body, the Intermediate Servo pin fell out when removing the Valve body and figured I would come back to that later. After pulling out the 2-3TV shift valve and replacing the blue spring with another new 1/8" longer blue spring, pretty much same thing on the 2-3 Control Orange spring, Noticed the E Clip on the Accumulator in the Valve body was not in the groove! So a bit of light shows me the Clip has a broken ear and is Stuck at bottom of the Shaft holding the Accumulator All the way down! Had to bend it and the other ear broke off but Accumulator was still stuck to the shaft. Working it up with a pair of pair of Channel Locks, the Spring was OK but the Shaft and Accumulator hole were buggerd up, started sanding with Fine emery paper on the shaft until smooth and the Accumulator hole untill it slid on with a bit of light oil. First problem found and Fixed. When I first Removed the Valve body, I Noticed that the VB and Case gaskets were on the incorrect sides of the Separator plate, that's an easy enough fix on reinstall of the Valve body, Problem 2 Fix. Back to the Intermediate servo assembly, used the pin to remove the servo assembly and as the pieces came out, this was their order, servo plate, then the spring and horse shoe clip and then the cup facing up! Well that's not the correct way according to the Diagram I was Looking at, so, reinstalled as Spring, cup- facing down, Pin with horse shoe clipand Servo cover plate. So, apparently, Some people don't take the time to Read the directions or have a clue on asking for help or calling when they have a question! Hope this helps someone else who is having trouble with Shifting, You Never know who or what has happened in the past, when something is wrong, pays to investigate and check all possible areas! I did replace the Yellow pressure spring to check the install and the old spring was also a 1/4" Shorter! Thanks for reading this wacked trans True Story, am going to finish the VB install, have put in Pink spring in the New Modulator that Originally did not help a thing so, thats what gave me No Choice but to Get the Shift kit and check out what could have happened to the Truck that Wouldn't Shift.
