Electronic editions of 4 of Moodys books went on selling Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015, released by the digital publisher Open Road Integrated Media. (Open Road Built-in Media via AP)NEW YORK (AP) - Rick Moody is lastly letting "The Ice Storm" and some of his other previous functions come out as e-books.
Electronic editions of four of Moody's textbooks went on sale Tuesday, released by digital publisher Open Road Incorporated Media. Besides "The Ice Storm, " the other books include the book "Purple America, " the memoir "The Black Veil" and the short fiction collection "The Ring associated with Brightest Angels Around Heaven. " In a recent email, Moody told The Associated Press he had been reluctant to grant electronic legal rights because most publishers treated the e-editions as "an ancillary section of the lives of my books. "
"I was never comfortable, in the past, along with how people were talking about the ebooks of my backlist, and thus our delay, " Moody wrote.
Open Road was co-founded in 2009 by former HarperCollins CEO Jane Friedman and now has some 10, 000 electronic books in its catalog, from Alice Walker's "The Color Purple" in order to Pat Conroy's "The Prince associated with Tides. "
Moody declined to discuss monetary details, although Open Road is well known for offering 50 percent royalties upon e-book sales, double what traditional publishers usually offer.
"Their strategy is very much about writers plus writing, and they are unencumbered by traditional thinking about how to connect readers with literature, " Moody told the particular AP. "Best of all, their checklist is remarkable. It would be hard to think of another publisher that has been as aggressive and forward-thinking about literature within the digital age, and with such great flavor. "
Moody, 54, is best known for "The Ice Storm, " the 1994 novel about a pair of troubled suburban families in 1970s Connecticut that will became a feature film starring Kevin Kline and Sigourney Weaver. The particular book is part of Open Road's "Iconics" series, which includes "The Color Purple, " Erica Jong's "Fear of Flying" and dozens of additional notable works.
Tuesday was also the release date for Moody's new novel, "Hotels of North America, " released by Little, Brown and Co.
___
Online:
website
More from Associated Press:

GOP candidates in high-stakes chess go with in South Carolina

Israeli mayor 'happy for help' from Hezbollah risks

Obama chides senators to 'do their job, ' vote on court pick

Judge: Apple must help US hack San Bernardino killer's phone

Iran snubs Doha proposal, won't deep freeze on oil output level
