-'''You bolt ''' on a piston stop to the deck of the block ... I would suggest you do that on piston number 1.
-Bolt a degree wheel onto the crank shaft.. with a pointer.  Rotate the engine crank around till the piston hits the stop. Mark the location on the degree wheel.
-Rotate the crank shaft the other direction till the piston hits the stop again, note the location the degree wheel.
-Split the two marks on the degree wheel in half... that is TDC
