| + | A: I have been in the Ridgewood symphonic band since my freshman year, and I'm currently a senior. I've played trombone in band since fifth grade at Union Ridge, so overall about seven years. Q: Why did you choose to play the trombone? A: Both of my parents used to play instruments. My dad played trumpet and was even a high school band director, so I knew I was going to play something. I chose trombone because I wanted to be different, but I knew I loved brass so I stuck with that. Q: What is your favorite song to perform? A: Last year I played the Morceau Symphonique. It is a trombone solo, and I was featured while the band played the accompaniment. This was such an amazing experience, so there is no doubt in my mind that it was my favorite. It took a lot of work, but I was very happy with the final outcome. My personal favorite is "Lux Aurumque" by Eric Whitacre. Q: Do you plan a career in music? A: I plan on trying to get experience playing in several ensembles in college, but I'm not quite sure what I want to do for a career for now.
