In accordance to human right watch: Torment, arbitrary detention, and  extreme regulations on liberty of expression, association and  religious freedom remain too frequent in Eritrea. Elections have not been  held since Eritrea obtained independence in 1993, the constitution has never been implemented, and  political parties are not allowed. There are certainly no institutional constraints on President Isaias Afewerki, in power right now for twenty five years. Along with ongoing severe human rights abuses, forced labor and indefinite  army service induce numerous Eritreans to get away the country every year. Access to the country for international humanitarian and human rights organizations is actually impossible and the country does not have any impartial media.
