==Spam filter bug==

The spam filter settings are preventing me from doing some edits and from creating templates. An example can be seen [http://www.crankshaftcoalition.com/wiki/File:SPAM_FILTER_REJECTION_OF_EDIT.jpg '''here'''], where I was trying to add the Template category to a template. I got the same thing when trying to create an "Attention" template, using the red exclamation point from the Warning template. That spam block is [File:Template spam block.jpg '''here'''].--[[User:Cobalt327|Cobalt327]] 18:14, 8 June 2012 (MDT)

:Spam filter is malfunctioning, again. First it wouldn't let me create templates using text that has already been used, as mentioned above (pre spam filter era, I'm guessing), and now it's decided it doesn't like formatting done to lists made using <nowiki><pre></pre></nowiki>. I found a way to format these lists to look a LOT more presentable than the usual dotted line border on a light gray background in that blockish default font. Using it changes this...

:...into a colored background w/a better font style/size/spacing than above. The text that triggers the spam filter can't be shown here- even bracketing the text inside 'ignore formatting' doesn't help, the filter still rejects it. I have tried removing/changing individual segments from the line that I thought might be triggering the filter, but in this case there seems to be no workaround. All I've been able to use successfully is <nowiki><style="border:none></nowiki> to get rid of the dotted line border.

:I'm working on this. It looks like that text is tripping the spam regular expression filter. See [http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:$wgSpamRegex here] for more details.--[[User:Jon|Jon]] 11:55, 19 June 2012 (MDT)

==Deleting files==

I am not able to delete images from the files page that are newer than April 2, 2012. That's about 67 days. Does that make sense, like is there a built in delay before images can be deleted?--[[User:Cobalt327|Cobalt327]] 22:59, 8 June 2012 (MDT)

==Reasons for blocking a user or deleting a page==

When blocking a user or deleting a page made by a new user that does not relate to Crankshaft Coalition wiki subjects, there is a box that offers a selection of reasons for blocking, like ''Inserting false information, Removing content, Spamming links'', etc., and reasons for deletion, like ''Author request, Copyright violation, and Vandalism''. There could be another reason added to those options, like '''''Non automotive content''''' or something else that conveyed that idea, instead of selecting "Other" and typing in the reason.--[[User:Cobalt327|Cobalt327]] 07:02, 12 June 2012 (MDT)

==Large influx of new members==

Unfortunately 95%-plus of the new registrations are not contributing a thing. They are probably being created by spambots. My concern is if they became aggressive things could quickly get out of hand.--[[User:Cobalt327|Cobalt327]] 00:22, 7 February 2013 (MST)

:After reaching a high of 500-plus registrations per day, as of 5-28-13 there has been a drastic ''decrease'' in new registrations by non contributing members, down to around 25 per day. Of these, spam has also decreased.--[[User:Cobalt327|Cobalt327]] 19:11, 29 May 2013 (MDT)

==Slow page loading when editing==
 +
As had been reported to Jon on 01-12-2013 via a PM at Hotrodders forum, on 01-11-2013 the wiki began loading edited pages '''''very''''' slowly. This was seen by Jon and myself so wasn't caused by a bad internet connection, etc.

 +
:As of 03-25-2013 the wiki is back to the way it was before the slowdown as far as speed of loading pages after edits. The wiki still has issues, but this is a big improvement from the previous 2-1/2 months.--[[User:Cobalt327|Cobalt327]] 06:38, 8 April 2013 (MDT)

I was concerned this might happen. Fortunately many seem to have one common IP address, although I am now seeing several others.--[[User:Cobalt327|Cobalt327]] 11:49, 20 April 2013 (MDT)

==Email edit notification working again?==

I received an email notification of a recent edit to a page- something that hasn't happened for many months now. Hopefully this is a sign of good things to come...--[[User:Cobalt327|Cobalt327]] 15:47, 29 May 2013 (MDT)
