This is about as old school as it gets. "My sister and I worked here as kids,cheap retro jordans," owner Mary Ann Rouse of Long Grove said of Bill's, which opened here in 1957 by her parents, Bill and Pat Kwiatkowski. Now there are three generations of family here, not including the many kids of past employees,, adding to the extended family. "The double decker is better than deep dish. This was an alternative to thin crust, but it still does take a while to bake." The kitchen is in a separate carryout building, so meals are run over to the restaurant, Rouse said. And although signs outside the kitchen annex boast "fabulous hot dogs," Rouse said Bill's is known for its pizza. "You can get different variations. Everywhere else it's pepperoni, but here it's sausage." The Double Decker pizza starts with a thin crust on the bottom with sauce and cheese, then a second pre-baked crust is stacked on top and laden with toppings in 10 specialty pizza combinations. The edges are curled and more cheese is added on top. "We use locally sourced, high-quality ingredients, the best stuff we can find. Our big thing is consistency. It's the recipe, really," Rouse said. For the past 16 years there's been a second location, Bill's Pub North in Third Lake, which added broasted chicken to the menu. Next year, Rouse plans to add on to the Mundelein restaurant with an outdoor patio for three-season dining, possibly trimmed with some off-white stone. "We've been here a long time,cheap jordans for sale," Rouse said, "and it looks dated to me." But regulars can rest easy — the time-tested recipes, launched by her parents and uncle, will remain the same.
