===Proving "disownership"=== Keep your copies of the transfer of ownership and of the bill of sale in your filing cabinet. You must be able to prove that the vehicle does not belong to you should the buyer choose not to register the vehicle and it ends up abandoned in a compound somewhere. You could be held liable for storage charges. After a given period, if the new owner did not register the vehicle, you may want to contact the Department of Motor Vehicles to "junk" the title in order to end any association between you and the vehicle.
