Replacing a C-6 transmission with an AOD on a FE 390 Ford

I have a 1966 ford Galaxie with a 390 FE motor.

would it be a good swap to put in a Ford AOD trans to get overdrive, currently it has a c-6.

can the later type trans be easily installed? what all is needed ? 


   converter, bell housing adapter flex plate,different starter?

any info i can get will be appreciated.

You will need an adapter to bolt a AOD trans to the FE motor. Different bolt patterns on the bell housing
