Hp estimate
From Crankshaft Coalition Wiki
This could potentially work as an article on the hazards of "guessing" HP.
I was wonder if anybody could help me with some horsepower and pound feet of torque numbers. I'm running a 400 small block chevy punched .030 with trw forged piston, 76cc 350 iron heads, 600cfm edelbrock carb, edelbrock performer intake, a comp cam that specs out at 218int/218exh at .050 and lift at .050 is .454int/.454exh, stock fuel pump, stock 400 with rod and main journals turned at .030, stock ignition, and long tube header. My intake has been gasket matched along with my heads to intake gasket and exhaust ports to percys seal 4 good gaskets. My machinist said should be in the 400 hp and 450 pound feet of torque area. Can anyone agree to that?
Bolt the engine on to a dyno... then there is no guessing.
