This is a military-inspired method for fixing leaking flared fuel fittings in a low-pressure fuel line. It's intended as an emergency fix. If tightening does not fix the leak, try this method.

You'll need fuel-resistant sealant and fuel-resistant string or cord.

  1. First, remove the coupling flange nut.
  2. Slide the coupling flange nut up and away from the flared end.
  3. Clean off the flared end.
  4. Wrap string around the flared end, and coat the string heavily with the sealant.
  5. Re-install the fuel line, and tighten the nut securely.
  6. Check for leaks. Use more string if necessary.
